Katie Taylor has made a statement following her shock defeat to Yana Alekseevna in the European Olympic qualifier semi-finals.
She will get another chance to qualify to defend her title in Rio this summer, and according to RTÉ her team will now be analysing what went wrong in order to prevent this from happening again.
"I'm obviously very disappointed.I always go to these competitions with the aim of bringing back a gold medal."
"The loss came at the wrong time for me today but she's a fantastic boxer and you can't take it away from her. She deserved it today but I'll come again."
Taylor also added that there is little difference between herself and Alekseevna, and said she will go home to take a couple of days off before training for the upcoming World Championships begins.
"Thank God I have another chance to go and qualify and I'm going to do everything I can do to book my place in Rio."
The Bray native also tweeted her thanks to those who support her:
It wasn't my day today. I'll come again. Thanks everyone for your prayers and support. Much appreciated.
