Gardaí have arrested two people after a man was serious assaulted in Dublin city centre.
The man was left with serious injuries after he was assaulted on Upper Gardiner Street area during the early hours of Sunday morning.
He was then taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment and his injuries are believed to be serious but non-life threatening.
A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s have been taken into custody and Gardaí are investigating the incident.
The two arrested are due to be questioned at Mountjoy Garda station and can be held for 24 hours.
Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and are looking for anyone who was in the Gardiner Street area between 2:45am and 3:30am on Sunday morning to contact them.
