Yesterday, it was announced that 2.4 million Toyota cars were being recalled around the world.
A ‘crash fault’ in the models Prius and Auris affected 290,000 cars in Europe, 830,000 cars in North America and 1.25 million cars in Japan.
And now the car company has revealed how many cars have been recalled in Ireland.
1,289 cars are affected in the country with the company saying the issue means, in rare cases, models made from October 2008 to November 2014 might lose power.
In a statement, the company said in “rare situations”, the fault could cause vehicles to stall when going into “failsafe” driving mode.
“While power steering and braking would remain operational, a vehicle stall while driving at higher speeds could increase the risk of a crash,” the statement continued.
If in doubt, you should contact your local dealership for more information.
