Following on from the Luas strikes of recent weeks, now DART drivers have voted to go on strike.

The planned industrial action is in response to proposed plans by the company to start running trains every ten minutes on Sundays. The new, more regular service is due to start from Saturday, 10th April.

Reacting to the proposal, SIPTU’s Paul Cullen, said:

“Our members see the introduction of a 10 minute DART service as an issue which should be an integral part of discussions on increasing productivity.”

“Our members are deeply disappointed that the management of Irish Rail seems intent on provoking further conflict with workers.”

“This is despite the Labour Court proposing a negotiation process which aims to create a forum where solutions can be found to productivity issues at the company.”

The news comes the same day that Luas workers announced further strikes are set to take place over Easter weekend.
