A light aircraft has crashed near Tramore in Waterford, with emergency services at the scene.
It is believed that one person has died following the incident.
The crash happened at around 12.50 pm this afternoon (Thursday, 20 November).
It is understood that three other people were said to be on board the aircraft and have since also been transported to local hospitals, per Extra.ie
The Waterford-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 117, rushed to the scene along with Gardaí and other emergency services.
The aircraft reportedly crashed near the Waterford coast, at a farm in the townland of Lisselan.
Weather conditions were described as good at the time of the incident.
The front section of the aircraft is believed to have sustained damage, as it appears the aircraft crashed nose-first into the ground while trying to land.
The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) at the Department of Transport are expected to launch an investigation into the incident.
AAIU Ireland stated: "The AAIU has been notified of an accident involving a twin-engined general aviation aircraft in the vicinity of Lisselan, Co Waterford, this afternoon.
"The AAIU is deploying a team of four inspectors of air accidents to the accident site to commence an investigation."
David Cullinane, Sinn Féin TD for Waterford, has since said the incident is a 'shock' to the local area, adding that the community’s thoughts are with whoever was on the plane, per Extra.ie.
