John and Diane Foley, the parents of photojournalist Jim Foley who was beheaded by ISIS in Northern Syria on August 19th, will be appearing on tonight’s edition of The Late Late Show.

The Foleys will sit down for their first European television appearance with Ryan Tubridy to talk about the kidnapping and subsequent murder of their eldest son.

The footage of the beheading was posted on various media websites in August showing the journalist, dressed in an orange jumpsuit, kneeling in front of a masked man.

The man said that Foley was going to be killed because US President Barack Obama had ordered airstrikes against IS positions in northern Iraq. The American journalist then read a statement, believed to have been prepared by those holding him hostage, blaming the US for his death.

After the footage was released, his mother Diane issued a statement: “We have never been prouder of our son, Jim. He gave his life trying to expose the world to the Syrian people.

“We implore the kidnappers to spare the lives of the remaining hostages. Like Jim, they are innocents. They have no control over American government policy in Iraq, Syria or anywhere in the world.

“We thank Jim for all the joy he gave us,” she continued. “He was an extraordinary son, brother, journalist and person.”

Jim (40) had been missing since he was seized by armed men in Syria in November 2012.
