People are NOT impressed with this tweet after Ireland’s Grand Slam win

Keeley Ryan

In case you haven’t heard, Ireland won the Grand Slam yesterday.

The men’s rugby team added the Grand Slam to their NatWest 6 Nations Championship with a win over England on St Patrick’s Day.

But amid all of the celebrations, a lot of people were left seriously unimpressed with one of Ulster Rugby tweets after the game.

The post included a photo of the captain of the men’s Irish rugby team, Rory Best, which they captioned:

“One of only three Irish Grand Slam winning captains.

“One of only two Irish two-time Grand Slam winners.

“First Irish captain to lead team to wins over NZ, SA and Australia.

“Only Ulster man to earn more than 100 Irish caps. Legend.”

And social media users were quick to point out that Best was, in fact, the fourth Irish Grand Slam winning captain.

People were quick to point out that the tweet by Ulster Rugby was leaving out Fiona Coughlan, who captained the Irish women’s rugby team to a Grand Slam in 2013.

One person said:

“We have FOUR Grandslam Captains.

“Fiona Coughlan captained us to the Slam in 2013 – oh and by the way she was also the first Irish captain to defeat New Zealand back in 2014.”

Someone else wrote:

“We’ve won the Grand Slam FOUR times!!!”

Another social media user commented:

“Fiona Coughlan and the Irish women won in 2013, which means Ireland has 4 grand slam captains.”

Jenny Murphy, a player for the women’s Irish rugby team who is “currently on sabbatical” was praised for her response to the tweet.
