With the countdown on to the same sex marriage referendum to be held on May 22nd, the country is bracing itself for one of the most significant referendum votes in years.
With the referendum confirmed, campaigns for both sides of the same-sex marriage argument are beginning to gain pace.
While we’ve been shocked by scare tactics used by the Alliance for the Defence of the Family and Marriage (ADFAM)
in a leaflet distributed in Dublin two weeks ago, we really weren’t prepared for this.
Dublin woman Tracey Walker was sitting at home this evening in Lucan when she noticed a man posting a letter through her mailbox.
Assuming it was junk mail, Tracey was about to bin it when she realised there was a handwritten message which appeared to be drawn by a child, scrawled across the envelope:
‘Even I need to live with dad and mom’.
While Tracey acknowledges that everyone has a right to vote for their own beliefs, she added:
“I am all for everyone voting for what they want but the fact the man had his child prepare it is wrong.”
Earlier this week, Limerick-based Augustinian priest Fr Iggy O'Donovanhas revealed that
he will be breaking with ranks on May 22nd and voting Yes in the upcoming Marriage Equality referendum.
