A leading UK newspaper has accused the late Princess Diana of leaking information about the Royal Family to the News of the World.

Sky News tonight tweeted a photo of tomorrow’s Daily Express front page, which carries the headline ‘Diana ‘Leaked Royal Secrets’ and goes on to say ‘Hacking trial hears sensational claims she did it to get back at Charles’. The newspaper reports that former NOTW Royal Editor Clive Goodman told the Leveson trial into media phone-hacking that Diana wanted to “take on” her estranged husband and was looking for an ally.

He continued to reveal that Diana supplied him with a directory of telephone numbers, known as the Green Book, to highlight the size of Prince Charles’ staff.

“She was going through a very, very tough time. She told me she wanted me to see this document. She wanted me to see the scale of her husband’s staff and household, compared to the staff of others,” he said.

“She felt she was in a bitter situation with the Prince of Wales at the time and she felt she was being swamped by his people, his staff.”
