R. Kelly promoters not cancelling tour to ‘wait for the outcome’ of sexual assault case

“The chances of the tour are rather bad…”

A German promoter has said that they will not cancel R. Kelly’s upcoming tour before the outcome of his sexual assault case.

Concerts Stuttgart allegedly sent an email to ticket holders of Kelly’s tour this week saying that they had yet to make a decision on whether the dates would go ahead.

In an email obtained by TMZ, the promoter said that they wouldn’t be selling any more tickets but they weren’t going to refund anybody yet.

The translated email reads:

“At the moment, we also have to admit that, the chances of the tour are rather bad, yet we would like to wait for the outcome of the (case).

“It is also correct that Robert had to (surrender) his passport for now.”

Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault last week against four women, three of whom were minors.

He has since pled not guilty to all charges and recently posted bail.

Associated Press reports that one count involves a video tape showing the singer having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Two of the other women both met Kelly when they were 16-years-old, one of whom said she asked for the singer’s autograph while he was on trial in 2008 for another tape of a similar nature.

Kelly was acquitted of all charges during this trial.

These new charges come after the release of the Surviving R. Kelly documentary which saw many alleged victims of the artist tell their stories publicly for the first time.

The US’s National Sexual Assault Hotline experienced a 27 percent increase in calls during the docu-series’s initial broadcast.

It is Lifetime’s highest rated programme in over two years.

The singer is due to appear in court on March 8. He faces up to 70 years in prison if he is found guilty.
