RTÉ weather forecaster Evelyn Cusack has slammed women who dress “frivolously” at work, saying it is “hard to take them seriously”.

The Met Éireann star was speaking to Woman’s Way when she made the comment, adding that she didn’t that that sexy outfits were appropriate in the workplace.

“It’s hard to take a woman seriously when you’re hearing her leather skirt squeaking and her earrings dangling,” she said.

While fellow presenter Jean Byrne has gained a cult following for her fashion-forward outfits, Cusack said that she took her wardrobe inspiration from German chancellor Angela Merkel and was happy that viewers did not notice her clothing.

“I’m a bit like Angela Merkel, nobody comments on her clothes, she just has 40 different jackets in different colours,” she said.

“I don’t think women should be sexy at work, that’s my opinion.”
