Schoolboy dies after “tragic accident” in Cork school

Heartbreaking.

A teenage boy has died after a “tragic accident” in a school in Co. Cork.

After an incident in Skibbereen Community School on Tuesday, emergency services were called to the secondary school to airlift a student to a hospital for treatment.

Gardaí confirmed to the Irish Mirror that they have since launched an investigation into the 15 year old’s death but are treating the incident as a tragic accident, as well as preparing a file for the coroner.

A statement read: “Gardaí are investigating the death of a male child, aged 15 years, following an incident at a school in Co. Cork that occurred today, Tuesday 16th November 2021.

“The child was taken to Cork University Hospital where they later passed.

“A file will be prepared for the Coroner’s Court.”
