Met Éireann has issued a thunderstorm and rain warning for Leinster, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, and Waterford until 10 pm tonight.
The national forecaster said to expect "localised slow-moving showers with heavy downpours, potential thunderstorms, and a chance of hail". They also noted that travelling conditions may be difficult. Met Éireann has also issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for Northern counties - Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry.
