Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

A teenage girl has been left in critical condition after a serious car accident in Waterford on Thursday, where she was airlifted to hospital.

Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision on Clonea Road, Dungarvan, at around 4pm, which involved a car and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a teenage girl, was then taken to Cork University Hospital by helicopter and is said to be in critical condition.

The driver of the car, a woman in her late 30s, was treated at the scene of the incident for shock.

The road was later closed for a technical examination to be conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators.

The road has since been reopened.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Dungarvan are appealing for any witnesses who were in the Clonea Road area this afternoon and who may have footage (including Dash Cam) to make it available to them.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Dungarvan Garda Station on 058 48600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”
