Met Éireann forecasts highs of 24 degrees for Bank Holiday weekend – but it’s not all good news

Anna O'Rourke

Making plans for the Bank Holiday weekend?

You’ll want to be prepared for a little bit of everything when it comes to the weather.

Met Éireann is forecasting mixed conditions for the coming days.

While wee can expect sunshine and temperatures of up to 24 degrees we’re also in for some cloud and some rain across the country, according to the meteorological service.

Here’s a day-by-day breakdown.

Friday

The start of the weekend is set to be dry and warm with good sunshine and light breezes. Temperatures will reach up to between 20 and 24 degrees.

Saturday

Cloud will build over the morning with scattered outbreaks of showery rain developing across Munster. These showers will gradually extend eastwards during the day. The rain will be patchy in the east of the country and some eastern places may escape the rain altogether. High temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees.

Sunday

A mixture of broken cloud and sunshine throughout the day with some scattered showers. Best temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees.

Monday

Monday will start dry but cloud will increase across the day, with rain then spreading eastwards throughout the afternoon and evening. Highs 19 to 22 degrees.
