Ellen Tannam

The Irish Defence Forces have announced a recruitment campaign to find new people to join both the Army and Naval Service.

RTÉ News reports that 600 people will be taken on this year, with a further 850 to be recruited in 2017.

Interestingly, they are looking to increase the number of female members to a figure somewhat higher than 6%, where it currently stands.

All applicants must be over 18 on May 22nd, and under 25 to apply for the Army service, while the age limit for the Naval service stands at 27 years old.

The YouTube recruitment video below is directly aimed at young women, encouraging them to sign up.
