What a brilliant idea.

A café in North Dublin has launched a new initiative with the aim of helping the members of the local community who need it.

The Skinny Batch Café in Rush announced on social media that, beginning next Monday, any schoolchildren under the age of 18 are welcome to come into the café and get a free bowl of warm porridge and fresh fruit.

They said:

“We think that every child and teenager deserves a warm healthy brekkie before school each day so here’s what we’re gonna do.

“From Monday next week, we will have a pot of yummy porridge on from 8-9am (or while stocks last).

“McCormacks Fruit & Veg in Rush have kindly agreed to supply us with fresh fruit to take with you too (also while stocks last).”

They explained in the tweet that the initiative will be available on school days, between the hours of 8am and 9am, for any child or teenager up to the age of 18. The breakfasts will be available for takeaway only.

All they have to do is bring in their own container, and there will be “no judgement, no questions, just love.”

The café has been praised by social media users for their thoughtful initiative.

“Fair play to you guys. There’s far too little kindness in the world these days,” one person wrote.

“This is a wonderful initiative, well done!” another added.
