The ESB have stated that they are working extremely hard to get power back to the homes, and has apologised for the loss of supply.
The orange wind warning is in effect until 9am this morning. Motorists are being warned to take extra car on the roads this morning as there may be debris and fallen trees on the roads.
Met Éireann are also warning that there is a strong possibility of frost and ice tonight as it has been reported that sleet and snow are expected to hit the country later in the week.
There have been reports of a number of fallen trees in the Monaghan and Donegal areas in particular.
