So that’s one way to start a new marketing campaign… Today FM have been busy this week playing a massive practical joke. One that happened to cause quite the stir in the horse racing community. Let’s just say, some bookies will be neigh impressed after this does the rounds. The actions kicked off last Thursday when Sport Editor John Duggan joined Matt Cooper to discuss briefly how a major equestrian related story would break during The Late Late Show.

The Racing Post picked up on the piece and bookies even got involved, taking bets that Ruby Walsh was going to announce his retirement to Tubs. With odds set at 9-4 that Ruby Walsh was set to retire, the marketing director of the national radio station was forced to admit their team was having a bit of fun… Roisin Reilly confessed to The Racing Post: "John's big announcement on The Last Word yesterday evening was all part of teaser activity we've been running over the last few days. "Listeners to the station would have heard a lot of horse related stuff recently and it will all become obvious tonight. The full story will appear on Today FM later today.” And this was it.
