Services are severely affected.

Emergency services are attending a “tragic incident” on the railway line at Howth Junction this morning.

Speaking on Morning Ireland this morning, Irish Rail spokesperson Barry Kenny said that a man has been fatally injured in the incident.

“An out of service train struck and fatally injured a man at Howth Junction,” Kenny said.

He warned that there will be a major disruption for the entirety of this morning’s peak, meaning no DARTs will be operating from Malahide or Howth.

Dublin Bus will be accepting rail tickets but obviously but warned that the increase in passengers will put a strain on their services.

He advised commuters to opt for alternative routes if possible.

Service arrangements:

  • DART: No DART service between Malahide/Howth and Harmonstown
  • Northern Commuter: operating between Newry/Dundalk/Drogheda and Malahide only

Note: while Dublin Bus will accept rail tickets, there will be significant pressure on capacity.

  • Enterprise: bus transfers will operate between Dublin and Drogheda
