Only a small number of test partners will be able to feature this ‘buy’ button, but it hopes that the tests will prove successful enough to roll it out across the network.
Included in this trial period are fashion house, Burberry and rapper, Eminem. Aid-awareness brand Red will also be on board.
Twitter has partnered with online payment company, Stripe, which was founded by Limerick brothers, Patrick and John Collison. Other companies involved in the trial include Musictoday and Gumroad.
In a statement released today, Twitter announced: “This is an early step in our building functionality into Twitter to make shopping from mobile devices convenient and easy, hopefully even fun.
“Users will get access to offers and merchandise they can’t get anywhere else…sellers will gain a new way to turn the direct relationship they build with their followers into sales.”
Twitter also stated that after users click the buy button, they will get full product details before they enter their payment and shipping information.
