The incident happened on Sunday.

Two men have been arrested in Co. Kerry after the body of a man in his 50s was discovered after a house party took place.

Gardaí have launched a murder investigation into the incident after 52 year old Joe Brosnan was killed in his Abbey Court apartment in Tralee, Co Kerry, on Sunday.

It is suspected he was killed in a knife attack after a personal row broke out at the party and officers believe there were a number of others at the home when this occurred.

Two men were questioned last night about the murder after they were arrested shortly after 7pm when an alarm was raised with emergency services.

One of the arrested individuals, a man in his 50s, was taken to Tralee Garda Station, where last night he was being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The other, a man in his 30s, is being held at Killarney Garda Station.

Both now can be detained for up to 24 hours before either being released or charged.

The scene was closed off yesterday as Garda forensic officers searched the area for evidence.

Assistant State Pathologist Dr Heidi Okkers arrived yesterday afternoon and a post mortem is set to be carried out.

Gardaí are currently appealing for public assistance, asking that anyone who may have seen or heard anything around 6.30pm or 7pm in the Denny Street, Denny Lane, or Abbey Court areas should contact them.
