Bad news for anyone planning to bask in the sun over the Bank Holiday weekend, as Met Éireann has issued a weather advisory due to Storm Floris set to hit Ireland.
According to the national forecaster: "Storm Floris will bring wet and unseasonably windy weather during Sunday night and Public Holiday Monday."
They go on to warn about potential effects the storm could bring, including travelling conditions, impacts for outdoor events, structural damage, fallen trees, debris, power outages, wave overtopping, and, finally, localised flooding due to fallen leaves.
However, there's no need for panic as a weather advisory does not reach the severity threshold of the colour-coded Status Yellow, Orange and Red warning system used by Met Éireann.
Until storm Floris hits the island, the weekend is set to be relatively settled, however, Met Éireann claims a greater number of people would be exposed to the weather conditions due to a large number of outdoor events and people camping at this time of the year, especially given the following Bank Holiday.
It follows Britain's Met Office's Status Yellow warning for "unseasonably windy" conditions from 6 am Monday to 6 am Tuesday, with winds reaching up to 140kmh on Scottish coasts.
Ahead of the windy conditions, Ireland's Bank Holiday weekend is predicted to stay mostly dry.
Saturday morning will have dry sunny spells in store, but clouds from the west may cause isolated rainfall in some parts of the country, with temperatures of 16 °C to 21 °C.
The following night will be mostly cloudy, bringing persistent rain, mainly in the west, which should clear up by Sunday morning.
That clearing will offer drier and brighter conditions with occasional showers confined to the northwest, while clouds will begin to build up again as the evening approaches.
However, Sunday evening will take a turn, bringing in the damp weather as rain will start to come in from the west.
The Bank Holiday Monday will consist of "unseasonably" strong and gusty westerly winds along with widespread rain in the northwest before moving eastwards in the afternoon, according to Met Éireann, per The Independent.
Winds are expected to settle down later in the day, and the sun is set to come out along with scattered rainfall and temperatures of 16 °C to 21 °C.
Storm Floris has not yet formed, but is expected to hit the northwest of Ireland, bringing a spell of heavy rain and very strong winds.
A strong stream for August is believed to carry the system towards Ireland through the weekend, with the storm set to increase rapidly.
