Where’s our heatwave? Here’s what to expect today

What's going on?

What’s going on?

It’s fair to say we all got quite excited when a weather warning was issued yesterday, promising us a heatwave today.

But many of us were surprised and a bit gutted to wake up to rain this morning.

Well fear not – Met Éireann says that we’re still set for some sunshine, but not until later in the day so maybe bring an umbrella before heading out.

It’s forecasting that scattered showers this morning will turn heavy with the risk of some thundery downpours  before clearing northeastwards.

It should then clear and become dry over most of the country, though scattered showers may persist in the north and northeast.

It will be humid today, and temperatures are set to reach between 22 and 28 degrees, with highest temperatures in Leinster, though it will be cooler along the west coast, with temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees.

It’s not expected to be too windy today and temperatures are set to drop to between 10 and 14 degrees tonight.

We can also expect some showers overnight.
