Young woman injured in St. Patrick’s Day attack in Donegal

She was walking home from town when a man attacked her.

Gardaí have revealed a young woman was injured in an attack in Donegal.

The woman, believed to be in her 20s, was attacked on St. Patrick’s Day.

The incident took place in a housing estate in Letterkenny in the early hours of the morning.

Gardaí confirmed the woman was attacked between 3am and 4.10am on March 17. It is believed she was walking back from the town when a man targeted her.

She is being treated for her injuries, but they’re not believed to be life-threatening.

Garda investigations are ongoing and they have asked anyone with information to come forward immediately.

The victim was able to get a good look at her attacker.

She said he is a man aged in his late 20s or early 30s. She also described him as being 5ft 7/ 5ft 8 in height.

The attacker had a shaved head and a beard. She also said he was wearing a red Gilet jacket.

A Garda spokesperson said anyone with relevant information can contact them on 074 9167100.

A spokesperson stated, “Gardaí are investigating an assault on a woman in her 20s that occurred between the hours of 3 am and 4:10 am on the morning of Thursday, 17th March 2022, in the Beechwood Park area of Letterkenny, County Donegal.

“The woman received non-life threatening injuries during the course of this assault.

They added, “No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing.”
