Masks are urgently needed for Spanish health workers.

Zara’s parent company, the Inditex fashion group, have pledged to donate 300,000 face masks to medical staff and patients in Spain by the end of this week.

The group announced this week their plans for the delivery of the much needed medical masks for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, as well as those who have contracted the coronavirus.

According to Inditex, they will “will make a delivery at least once a week of materials we purchase directly.”

“[We have] already donated 10,000 protective face masks and by the end of this week expects to be in a position to ship another 300,000 surgical masks,” they said.

Face masks are among the most coveted supplies for medical staff caring for patients in Spain amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

Surgical gloves, protective glasses, face shields, and caps are also in high demand, with Inditex stating that they are considering ways of switching some of their textile-manufacturing capacity “over to the production of health materials.”

So far, 767 people have died in Spain as a result of the coronavirus. The country is currently reporting over 17,00 active cases.

Just over 1,000 people have recovered.
