H&M and Her – Talking Fashion, Festivals and First Date Style with Foxes

The award-winning British singer is the face of H&M's Divided Collection.

Rebecca McKnight

Usually, emulating the style of one of your musical heroes involves a lot of cutting corners or a shed load of cash. Not so when it comes to Foxes.

The Grammy-award winning singer, 26, is the face of H&M’s Divided collection for autumn, and frankly the high street has never looked so good.

In store now, the campaign was shot in Los Angeles, and sees the Youth hitmaker sporting a mix of new season essentials including bomber jackets, varsity sweatshirts, slogan T-shirts, miniskirts and wide-leg jeans (*gives praise for cyclical fashion trends!*).

“It was so much fun shooting the H&M campaign. The clothing has tons of character, which means you can really play with the looks, and the best thing is it all still feels like me,” says Foxes.

We wanted to get to know the spokesmodel a little better, so we had a few questions to ask her…

Can you sum up your fashion sense in three words?

Playful. Fun. Vintage.

Is there a correlation between your style and your music?

Definitely, I grew up watching my mum and always felt inspired by how she would put outfits together, and I see fashion and music as two of my favourite things. Also collaborating with H&M and getting to write the music video for Feet Don’t Fail Me Now and seeing it come to life. I loved styling the video with my stylist and was inspired by This Is England and northern soul.

What’s the single most sentimental item in your wardrobe and why?

A vintage Gaultier leather jacket, I also have an ankle bracelet my Mum gave me thats really special to me.

Why have you paired up with H&M?

I’ve always been a huge fan of H&M. When I was younger I remember saving up to go on shopping sprees there, so when they approached me I couldn’t wait to represent a brand I’d grown up with! The fact that its a collaboration also involving my new record is perfect also and allowed me to write my own treatment for the music video to go with it.

Who do you see this collection being aimed at?

It’s a young, fun collection. It’s kind of festival girl/ boho. Very free and fun.

What’s your dream music collaboration?

Musically I’ve collaborated with a lot of people already but I would love to work with Eminem as my 14-year-old self would have a full blown freak out!

What’s the perfect outfit for…

A first date

High-wasted jeans, cool cropped t-shirt, heels. It looks casual but the heels make it a bit sexier.

A night out with the girls

I love finding a great vintage one of a kind dress. Something playful and something you don’t mind spilling wine down!

A concert

Jeans, converse, a T-shirt and leather jacket kinda thing.
