Karl Lagerfeld Shares His Secrets to Staying Young (And Apparently It’s Not a Trip To the Surgeons)

"I don't know anyone from my generation. I find those people terrible."

Karl Lagerfeld is ever the busy man. From running three major fashion houses to his recent plans to design a hotel, the 80 year old is the poster boy of  the ‘you’re as young as you feel’ mantra.

So how does he maintain his energy?

The fashion designer credits his enthusiasm for life to keeping company with young friends.

Speaking to Zeit.de, Lagerfeld revealed he steers clear from befriending his peers saying:

“I don’t know anyone from my generation. I find those people terrible.

“Even younger people are starting to talk about circulation problems. I have extreme self-discipline, which I can barely call self-discipline anymore because I can’t see any other way to be.”

He’s also pretty outspoken about the use of plastic surgery to turn back the ageing process:

“Nothing makes you look older than attempting to look young.

“You can fool anyone, apart from the young. The worst are the lip operations. There are people who have it done and I don’t recognise them afterwards. They look like they flew through the windscreen during a car accident and were patched up badly afterwards.”

So we won’t be expecting a Lagerfeld trout pout anytime soon then.
