Another year, another Met Gala and this year appeared to be one of the most sustainable balls of them all. With the theme of Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, many guests arrived wearing vintage pieces or gowns the designer had created for them years previous. The theme reflected the Metropolitan Museum's latest collection which showcased Lagerfeld's vast career, displaying the work he did for Fendi, Balmain, Chloe and of course, Chanel. Many guests arrived in looks that were vintage, with a lot of celebrities showing up in gowns they had worn before. This year's gala was expected to be the most sustainable yet due to the theme, and it did not fail – but who did it the best? Dua Lipa in a 1992 Chanel bridal dress originally worn by Claudia Schiffer. Nicole Kidman in the dress she first wore during a 2004 Chanel No.5 advert. Naomi Campbell in a Chanel Haute Couture spring/summer 2010 gown. Yara Shahidi's corset was from the spring 2008 Mermaid Haute Couture collection for Jean Paul Gaultier. Margot Robbie's look was remade from a Chanel dress worn by Cindy Crawford on the runway in 1993. Gisele Bündchen wore a Chanel Haute Couture 2007 gown from a shoot at Karl's home. Kristen Stewart wore a Chanel Resort 2017 suit at the ball. Suki Waterhouse in a sheer gown from Fendi's Women's Spring/Summer 2019 collection.
