While social media gives us a hint of the exiting night, we've never truly known what exactly goes on at the event or just how much preparation goes into it.

This new documentary called The First Monday in May focuses behind the scenes at the annual Costume Institute exhibition and gala at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art show.

It follows the creation of “China: Through The Looking Glass,” the most attended fashion exhibition in the history of The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the 2015 Met Gala, the star-studded fundraiser.

It centres around the iconic Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine and Met Gala chair, and Andrew Bolton.
