Kilkenny's Mount Juliet Estate voted best hotel in Ireland for 2020
Who wouldn't fancy a stay here?
The stunning Mount Juliet Estate in Kilkenny has been voted best hotel in Ireland for 2020 – and it's easy to see why.
Anonymous inspectors from AA Ireland's Hospitality Services Team recently awarded the five-star hotel with the prestigious title for its exceptional service, warm welcome, and excellent food options.
"While much is changing in the world around us, Mount Juliet Estate will continue to be a jewel in the crown of the Irish hospitality sector," AA Director of Consumer Affairs Conor Faughnan said in a statement.
The entire hospitality sector in Ireland has, of course, been badly affected by the global Covid-19 situation, with hotels only being allowed to reopen again on the 29th of June. To be able to reopen safely, there are strict social distancing measures in place in hotels, as well as restrictions on some of the usual services. They are also only allowed to operate with limited room available.
The award then, feels very special right now, Mark Dunne, General Manager of the luxury hotel, said, calling it a "little ray of sunshine" in the midst of madness and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to the Independent, Dunne also said that it was difficult to operate in the current circumstances, citing that problems striking a balance between the safety of guests and the safety of his staff.
"It's been really tricky, really difficult. You have the care of the guest on one hand and the care of your colleagues on the other, and you're trying to make them both meet in the middle in a very safe manner."
A well deserved win, for sure.
