What we don't want is to hear an AI-written speech, but sadly, it is becoming more common.

According to new research, more people are using AI to write wedding speeches, and no, you're not living in an episode of Black Mirror.

While it’s an honour to speak, getting it right on the day and pleasing a room of guests from different generations can feel like a serious challenge.

Greetings card marketplace thortful has revealed that using AI for a wedding speech is glaringly obvious to other guests.

As the use of AI increases, it’s becoming easier to spot a bot-written speech, so don’t think that guests won’t realise.

Users on Reddit are calling out speech givers, with one commenting, “Wedding speeches are personal and usually contain anecdotes relevant to the newlyweds. I don’t think AI would understand the relationship between you and the married to write you an emotion-laden speech."

"It doesn’t have to be polished, but authentic. And people can smell generic speeches from a mile away," wrote another.

Humanist celebrant, Rachael Meyer said: "AI lacks your personal experience, emotion, and knowledge. And with speeches, it’s all about the tiniest details."

How to write a strong but meaningful wedding speech?

The important thing to remember is to tell your story, your way.

AI may be helpful for formatting and organising your thoughts, but thortful stresses that stories should come from the heart.

“This is where your personal memories come to life. Think about moments that show the couple’s character or your bond with them, whether it’s touching, funny or revealing. I’d recommend using a structure with a beginning, middle, and end so your story flows naturally.”

Another thing you should remember before delivering your speech is to focus on the couple.

Try not to make it too much about you and instead about the relationship you have with the couple, share thortful.
