Brides cancels wedding after guests donate €27k, plans to keep all the money

Needless to say, people were not happy.

A bride has sparked fury after announcing she would be cancelling her wedding – but would be keeping the €27,000 donated by her guests for a pre-wedding honeymoon.

A viral Twitter thread shared the story of Pam and Edward, with the bride revealing on Facebook that they had decided to call off their December 1 wedding.

However, she noted, they would be keeping the $30,000 (around €27,000) that their guests had given them. She told her guests the nuptials had been indefinitely postponed, however their money wouldn’t be going to waste – the meant-to-be newlyweds would be going on a pre-wedding honeymoon.

“After much reflection and tear-filled conversation with our closest family members, we have decided to cancel our upcoming winter wedding,” Pam’s post began. “We thank each and every one of your for your generous donations to our money fund. Can you believe we have raised over $30,000??? Unbelievable!!! Don’t worry, the money you’ve donated will not be spent in vain but rather used towards a honeymoon in the coming months.”

She explained that after the honeymoon, they would be announcing a new wedding date – and would be re-opening the “money fund” for any further gifts.

“Weddings are expensive,” she said.

Needless to say, the guests didn’t take Pam’s post too well.

Many of the family members from both sides of the family, as well as members of the bridal party, told her that they wanted the funds they had donated back.
