“So heartbroken by the loss of Marc Pilcher, the brilliant and visionary Hair and Makeup designer for Bridgerton Season One.”

Marc Pilcher, the Emmy award-winning hair and makeup designer who worked on Netflix’s period drama Bridgerton, has passed away.

The show’s star Nicola Coughlan led tributes to the designer on Instagram.

The Irish actress posted a photo of Marc, as well as images of his work.

She wrote: “So heartbroken by the loss of Marc Pilcher, the brilliant and visionary Hair and Makeup designer for Bridgerton Season One.

“Marc was so passionate about his work and so tremendously talented. Not even a month ago he won his first Emmy award. It’s a tragedy that he’s been taken so young when he had so much yet to do.”

She added: “Please also use this as a reminder that Covid is still a very real and present danger, please get vaccinated and mask up to protect yourself and others.”

Nicola then passed on her condolences to Marc’s friends and family, as well as his colleagues from the show.

“He loved and cared for you all so much and my heart goes out to you all,” she wrote.

She added: “Rest in peace Marc.”

In the comments, Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne on the show, left a series of heart emojis.

At this year’s Emmy awards, Marc took home the award for Outstanding Period And/Or Character Hairstyling for Bridgerton.

According to his agent Curtis Brown, Marc began his career in styling in the West End in 1988. He worked in the musical theatre world until 2003 when he made the transition to hair and makeup styling for film and TV.

Marc also worked on Mary Queen of Scots (2018) and Downtown Abbey (2019). Pilcher won consecutive Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards for both projects. He was also an Academy Award nominee for his work on Mary Queen of Scots.
