If you know someone whose handset is dropped more often than a Skype call, this is the news you need to see.

Apple plans to start buying broken iPhones with smashed screens and broken home buttons, as part of their new Reuse and Recycle scheme.

The recycling initiative allows people to swap their broken phones for Apple store credit – which can be used against buying a new one.

According to i100, the company has previously allowed old phones to be traded in for credit, but the deal was limited to phones with limited damage.

For those clumsy iPhone users who constantly need to replace a screen, Apple plan to introduce new tools that will allow a third-party screen protectors – to avoid any extra cracks in the first place.

Apple hope that by accepting broken screens in their recycling plan that they will be able to increase their sales of new phones as it’ll drive down prices for new handsets.

The company are also offering people to recycle some of their tech for free – even if they’re not Apple products:

“Even if your equipment isn’t functional or doesn’t have any value, you can recycle your iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac, PC or smartphone responsibly through Apple for free.”

Now we don’t feel so guilty for our Apple obsession…
