Angelina Jolie opens up on Brad Pitt split, saying she’s “not there yet”

“I’m looking forward to my fifties – I feel that I’m gonna hit my stride in my fifties.”

Angelina Jolie has opened up to British Vogue about her split from Brad Pitt and the “victory” she feels the older she gets.

There has been a lot of press around the pair’s relationship since they started seeing each other after Brad finished his relationship with Jennifer Aniston. People were then fascinated with Brad and Angelina, or Brangelina if you will.

The pair were married in 2014 after almost ten years of being in a relationship. They announced their separation just two years after they were married. They were divorced in 2019.

The couple are parents to six children, Maddox, 19, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14 and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12. The couple’s custody case is yet to be settled.

Angelina tells Vogue :“The past few years have been pretty hard. I’ve been focusing on healing our family. It’s slowly coming back,” she describes her recovery “like the ice melting and the blood returning to my body.”

Even though they have been broken up for almost five years now, the 45 year old actress says it’s still painful for her and she’s not over it yet. “I’m not there yet. But I hope to be. I’m planning on it,” she said.

She spoke about getting older and how ageing has helped her grow into the person she is now, “I do like being older. I feel much more comfortable in my forties than I did when I was younger.”

“Maybe because… I don’t know… maybe because my mom didn’t live very long, so there’s something about age that feels like a victory instead of a sadness for me.”

Angelina’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, passed away at the aged 56 following a battle with ovarian and breast cancer.

It’s reassuring to Angelina to speak about her life and ageing. She said she seems to get better with age. “I’m looking forward to my fifties – I feel that I’m gonna hit my stride in my fifties.”

“Though we were on the trampoline the other day, and the children said, ‘No, Mom, don’t do that. You’ll hurt yourself.’ And I thought, “God, isn’t that funny?” There was a day I was an action star, and now the kids are telling me to get off the trampoline because I’ll hurt myself.”

Jolie lives just a few doors down from her ex, Brad, in LA, “I wanted it to be close to their dad, who is only five minutes away.”
