Alesha Dixon was trending over the weekend but unfortunately it wasn’t for the right reasons.
The singer-turned-talent-judge was heavily criticised after her performance of God Save the Queen at the British Grand Prix.

A number of viewers took to Twitter to comment on her American twang and even accused her of getting the words wrong.
First time I’ve seen a safety car out after someone singing a national anthem. #F1 #AleshaDixon

When you hear Alesha Dixon singing the National Anthem and all you want to do is escape… #BritishGP pic.twitter.com/2ZGBES04wA

However Alesha hit back at her critics last night, explaining that she opted to do a different version of the UK’s national anthem.
There’s a difference between getting the words wrong and choosing 2 sing a particular version! Boring story, very sad! #don‘tpissonmyparade
