There's something in our eye.

“Harry Hubes you ledge.”

We love a good parental appreciation post on social media. Yes, lots of people’s parents aren’t on Facebook or Instagram and so will never see it but it’s always lovely to see someone say nice things about their mum or dad, right?

Amy Huberman has shared a very sweet tribute to her dad Harold to mark a milestone birthday.

“Happy birthday to my Dad who turns 80 today!,” she wrote on Instagram

“I think it’s his regimental skincare routine and nifty contouring skills that keep him looking so young?!?! Either way happy bday Harry Hubes you ledge.”

As well as posting a recent photo of herself and her dad together, she shared a clipping of an article she wrote about him in the Irish Times last year.

In the piece, she recalls his childhood as the son of a Polish immigrant and a World War Two evacuee who was separated from his family in London and sent to the countryside in the north of England during the Blitz.

Amy said the cheeky spirit he had in childhood never faded.

“My dad has always been a joke teller. He always has and still does communicate in jokes.

“So if I was ever to get a telling off from my dad, I knew it was serious.”

She wrote touchingly of how Harold has lived with Parkinson’s disease for the past number of years, which she said “has come with a barrage of limiting challenges.”

“He has always loved art and expressing his creativity and I admire his courage and willing to still paint, despite the shake in his hand, despite the fact that he can no longer write, despite everything else.

“I am lucky to know him. I am lucky to call him dad.”

Ah stop.
