Another Arrest in Relation to Jimmy Saville Sex Scandal

He is best known for being the publicist to the stars but today Max Clifford was arrested by police in connection with the on-going Operation Yewtree investigation into the sex abuse scandal.

Operation Yewtree was sparked by the allegations made against Jimmy Saville earlier this year but Clifford's arrest is not said to be in connection with those.

According to reports the 69-year-old, who has represented the likes of Simon Cowell in the past, was held by police this morning as part of the investigation which has involved a number of influential figures in the media.

Max Clifford is a well-known publicist and was arrested this morning.

The police statement said: “Officers working on Operation Yewtree have this morning, Thursday 6 December, arrested a man in his 60s in connection with the investigation.

“The man from Surrey was arrested at 07:40hrs on suspicion of sexual offences and has been taken into a central London police station.”
