A fitting tribute for baby Azaylia.

Ashley Cain has paid a touching tribute to his baby daughter Azaylia three months after her passing.

Cain’s daughter passed away in April from a rare and aggressive form of leukemia. She was just eight months old.

Earlier this week, the footballer got a tattoo done on his neck in honour of Azaylia.

Cain told his Instagram followers that the tattoo will serve as a permanent reminder to keep on going through the pain.

“So I’m getting my first piece today to represent my beautiful baby girl,” he said.

Ashley then tagged the tattoo artists in his story, and thanked them for all their hard work.

“I couldn’t have met a nicer and more genuine two gents to have done my tattoos than @Pash_Canby and @Uzzi_Canby.

“Not only did I get two amazing tattoos, but we laughed, we cried and we shared some really special and powerful moments. Thank you.”

The tattoo, which is of a lion, took two eight hour sittings in order to complete. Throughout her cancer treatment, Ashely referred to Azaylia as his “little lion”.

Earlier this week, while watching the England V Denmark game, Ashley had his daughter’s name printed on the back of his jersey, along with the phrase, “Let’s go champ”.

“The 4th Lion was with us tonight”, he wrote after England scored their winning goal. “Azaylia we love you CHAMP!”

In May, Ashley and his partner Safiyya announced that they were going to use the funds raised for their daughter’s treatments to help other children with cancer and their families.

They wrote: “We will use the remaining money to help other children through a new charity we are setting up in Azaylia’s name.

“She has guided us throughout this process and it only feels right that we continue to use the platform we built together to help those in similar situations.”
