Now this would have been interesting…
It could have been the battle of the boybands on Coronation Street if former Westlife star, Brian McFadden, had taken a role on the popular soap.
With one boy band member (Keith Duffy of Boyzone) having already featured on the cobbles, McFadden was reportedly approached for the role of Aidan Connor – now played by singer Shayne Ward.
“I did actually get asked to go and have a meeting with Coronation Street about doing a role in it, but time wouldn’t let it because I was doing Who’s Doing The Dishes? and I had an album coming out,” he told The Sun at the Glen’s Platinum Vodka launch.
“I couldn’t live in Manchester for nine months or whatever it was. I just told them I didn’t have time.
“They asked if I would be available for this amount of time and it would be for a role. It sounded fun but I just didn’t have nine months to be in Manchester,” he continued.
“I think Shayne Ward got the job.”
