Caitlyn Jenner has shared a photo of her facial sun damage in a bid to warn people about the dangers of not wearing sun cream.

The reality star and former athlete shared the photo on social media saying that she had just had some of the damage “removed from my nose.”

The photo shows Caitlyn sitting in a robe with a large, red and raw patch of skin on the end of her nose.

She wrote: “I recently had to get some sun damage removed from my nose. PSA – always wear your sunblock!”

You’re not wrong, girl.

Caitlyn currently lives in California so it’s not all that surprising that she’s experienced a bit of sun in her life.

However, no matter how mild the sun may seem to be, during the late spring and summer months it’s paramount to ensure that you’re wearing sun protection on your face.

According to the Irish Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common cancer in Ireland with over 10,000 new cases of the disease being diagnosed in one year in 2013.

If you do need to be outside during times when it is most sunny, you should always be aware of when the sun is at its hottest (between 11am and 3pm), cover up, use a minimum SPF 30 sun cream, and wear sun glasses.

You should also take extra care if you:

  • Have pale or freckled skin that does not tan or burns before it tans.
  • Have naturally red or fair hair.
  • Have blue, green or grey eyes.
  • Have a large number of moles (50 or more).
  • Burn easily or have a history of sunburn.
  • Have already had skin cancer.
  • Have a close family member who has or had skin cancer.
