‘Celebrities don’t owe it to you to stay the same weight’

Meghan Trainor has opened up about her current weight loss

The singer recently revealed why she chose to start taking Mounjaro to help her lose weight, but some fans are reportedly disappointed because she now looks different.

The intense relationships people have with celebrities can be baffling at the best of times, but slating someone for losing weight seems to be becoming more and more common in fandoms, especially if the artist they love is a woman.

But celebrities don’t owe it to their fans to stay the same weight.

Trainor has admitted she feels disheartened by the commentary on her appearance because she lost weight for the sake of her children.

The mum-of-two explained that she simply wanted to feel healthy and strong.

"It’s a little disheartening that so many of the questions (and comments) were focused on my body instead of my music, my passion, or the decade of hard work that got me here. This is what it’s like to be a woman in the music industry."

She continued, "No, I don’t look like I did 10 years ago. I’ve been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me.

The singer worked with a personal trainer and changed her diet, but also started using medication to help her lose weight.

"I’ve worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy. And I’m so glad I did because I feel great," she added.

Trainor added: "Here’s to celebrating talent, growth, and the power of putting yourself first. Let’s keep shifting the convo to what REALLY matters."

It is understandable that fans may feel disheartened or let down when a celebrity who is viewed as a 'plus-sized icon' loses weight, but it's their body and their decision at the end of the day.
