Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has reveled how music was a “life-saver” for him following his split from Gwyneth Paltrow.
In a blog post that re-defined the way to announce a split (yes – we’re referring to ‘conscious uncoupling’), the couple announced the end of a near ten year marriage.
Speaking on Steve Wright’s Big Show on Radio 2, Martin said how he channelled his ‘bad feelings’ into writing songs for the band’s new album Ghost Stories:
"You can choose your paths in life, I find, when you get to a point where you're like, 'I could either jump off a bridge or I could try and turn this around.' I'm sure lots of people have that in much harder instances. You just find the right tools.
"I feel so grateful. Especially over the last couple of years, music has been alchemising. Going through something difficult in your life, music for me is always a friend and something that helps you to figure things out. That's always what I'm doing in the middle of the night. I'm very grateful to be here. Every day is a blessing. That's how I feel."
The singer has also spoken out about a change in his lifestyle – mainly turning his back on vegetarianism since the break-up:
"I'd only eat something that I think I could kill. I'd kill a fish. Not a giraffe."
