Corrie’s Alex Bain ‘splits from girlfriend Levi’ five months after becoming parents

Coronation Street actor Alex Bain has reportedly split from his girlfriend,   five months after they welcomed their daughter.

The 17-year-old, who played Simon Barlow, and his girlfriend Levi Selby became parents to little Lydia-Rose in December last year. She arrived shortly after the pair took their GCSE exams. However, The Sun report that the couple have gone their separate ways. A source told the publication:

“They were over the moon at the birth of their baby girl and were really happy together. “But they’ve been through a lot together and they’re both still so young. “It’s a shame they couldn’t make the relationship work but they’ve gone their separate ways. “They’re both now just trying to move on but they absolutely adore their daughter.”

The 17-year-old actor and his girlfriend announced their happy news in May last year. At the time, a source told The Sun that he had been sharing the news around his school in Lancashire. They added:

 “Alex has been telling everyone he’s going to be a father. "He isn’t keeping it a secret. "It’s hard to tell if he’s happy about it or not but he’s definitely not ashamed of it. “But some people have been saying how young he is to be having a baby. It’s only happened to one other person at his school in recent years so it is pretty shocking.”

Alex’s portrayal of Simon on Corrie saw him win Best Young Performance at the British Soap Awards in 2011. He has been on the show for 10 years and has received four more nominations during this time.
