#Covid-19: Game of Thrones’ star Kristofer Hivju says that he has fully recovered from the Coronavirus

Leslie Ann Horgan

Tormund was, hands down, our ever favourite Game of Thrones character.

Yes, in the first season we were partial to the noble Ned. And we admired the valiant Rob and John before he got boring. And there were phases when we were rooting for Daenerys and Tyrion and Arya. And, of course, we fell for Jamie’s charms when those frosted tips faded a bit.

But Tormund Giantsbane, with his wild eyes and cracking sense of humour was the one character that we absolutely adored across the seasons. Sure we love a redhead.

So, we were very relieved to see the news that actor Kristofer Hivju, who plays the literally larger than life character, has recovered from Coronavirus.

Hi! We are fully recovered and in good health after I was infected by the Cororonavirus, and most likely my wife @grymolvaerhivju After several weeks inn quarantine, and also a couple more indoors after beeing free of all symptoms, we are finally safe and sound. We were lucky to only have mild symptoms of the Covid 19. We send our love and thoughts to all of the people where the virus has hit much harder, and to everyone who has lost their loved ones due to the Cornonavirus. Thank you for all of your support, and please remember to stay vigilant and keep your distance, wash your hands, and most of all ; take care of each other in this strange time. Lots of love from us❤️?? #takecare @panoramaagency

On March 16, the Norwegian actor had posted to his Instagram that he and his family had tested positive for the Covid-19. However, the 41-year-old wrote that the effects of the virus were thankfully mild.

“Sorry to say that I, today, have tested positive for COVID19, Corona virus. My familiy and I are self-isolating at home for as long as it takes. We are in good health – I only have mild symptoms of a cold.”

Now, three weeks later, Kristofer has posted an update saying that, after spending time in quarantine, he has now recovered. He also encouraged the rest of us to keep taking the necessary precautions to protect both ourselves and our loved ones from the disease.

The actor wrote on Instagram:

Thanks the old gods and the new ones for that – we couldn’t deal with a world, real or fictional, that didn’t have Tormund in it.
