Daniel O’Donnell celebrates welcoming twins to extended family

No better man – to be a grand uncle.

Daniel O’Donnell is celebrating the arrival of a pair of twins to his family.

The country singer and national treasure announced the arrival of two baby girls on Facebook this week, after his niece and personal assistant Patricia Swan gave birth.

Daniel posed for pictures with the twins on social media and said that he is “over the moon” by their arrival.

“Many of you will know my niece Trish who is also my PA from when she travelled with me on the road,” he said.

“I’m delighted to announce that Trish and her husband Neil have just become the proud parents of twin girls Ava and Kayleigh born on September 8th.

“To say we are all over the moon is an understatement. We are thrilled for them and the twins big sister Mia who has just celebrated her 2nd birthday.”

Daniel, whose entertainment firm saw accumulated profits of €4.33m last year, has always been very close to niece Trish.

The Donegal man sang at her wedding to husband Neil in 2017 and has shared milestones in the past regarding their daughter Mia.

Daniel was, of course, forced to cancel all of his planned tours last year due to the Covid pandemic. The star busied himself performing gigs on Facebook Live, as well as surprising care home residents in his native county with free gigs.

He also made an appearance at a Cork woman’s funeral to perform at her graveside. Margaret McCarthy from Innishannon passed away earlier this year after a short illness, and her family were bowled over to hear the legend sing a song for her over the phone.

He also left a message for Margaret on RIP.ie after hearing of her passing.

Daniel is currently planning gigs across the UK for this autumn, the US for winter and Australia and New Zealand for 2022.
