Demi Lovato comes out as non-binary

Demi Lovato has come out as non-binary and changed their pronouns to they/them.

The singer announced that they identify as non-binary today. In a short video posted to their social media account, Lovato said that they had spent “the majority of my life growing in front of you all.”

“Over the past year and a half, I’ve been doing some healing and self-reflective work,” they said. “Through this work, I’ve had the revelation that I identify as non-binary.

“With that said, I’ll officially be changing my pronouns to they/them. I feel this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic to the person that I know I am and still am discovering.”

Lovato added that they are “still learning” and that they had decided to come out in support of those who were not privileged enough to do so.

“I want to make it clear that I’m still learning and coming into myself and I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson,” they said.

“I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones. Please keep living in your truths and know I am sending so much love your way.”

In a Twitter thread, Lovato added: “Not only has my life been a journey for myself, I was also living for those on the other side of the cameras.

“Every day we wake up, we are given another opportunity and chance to be who we want and wish to be. I’ve spent the majority of my life growing in front of all of you… you’ve seen the good, the bad, and everything in between.”

This comes a few months after Lovato announced that they are pansexual. Speaking on the Joe Rogan podcast about whether they see children in their future, Demi said: “I used to. I think if anything I want to adopt. I was engaged to a man last year.

“I also don’t know if I’m going to end up with a guy, so I can’t really see myself getting pregnant. I’m so fluid now. And a part of the reason why I’m so fluid is because I was super closeted off.”

Rogan asked Demi if by “fluid” they meant “sexually fluid”, to which she responded: “Yeah, anything really.”

Rogan asked the star if she was pansexual, and Demi replied, “Yeah, pansexual.”
