Doireann Garrihy admits she needed a break from her radio show

Doireann Garrihy said it was the right time to leave

The presenter surprised her fans by confirming her return to the national broadcaster last month.

Just months after her emotional exit from the station, Garrihy confirmed she was returning to host a brand new show.

Doireann confirmed her show will air weekdays from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Many fans were stunned to see her return so soon after leaving the station but she said she knew she would always return to radio.

She told VIP Magazine that she needed a break at the time of her departure.

"It was the right time for me to leave. It felt right for me, I knew what the rest of my year looked like.

"I knew what the start of 2025 looked like with Dancing with the Stars."

"I knew I needed a break," she admitted.

She said she had to trust her gut and leave the station.

"But at that time, it was the right time for me to leave. And I made the decision based on my gut, which I have always done. I think my family and friends, as much as they always back and support me, they were like, ‘Oh, here’s Doireann going with her gut again, making these decisions’!"

Garrihy will host the new 2FM Drivetime show on weekdays from 3 pm to 6 pm.
