It was all in good fun… or at least it was meant to be.
As if they hadn’t had enough of each other at
the final Presidential debate on Wednesday night, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton found themselves face to face yet again in New York on Thursday.
This time, however, the atmosphere was a little more light-hearted as the Presidential nominees attended the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner, an annual Catholic charity event in New York City.
Or at least it was meant to be a little more light-hearted.
Both candidates spoke to the assembled audience at the formal dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in New York and both used it as an opportunity to ‘roast’ their opponent, although not all of the jokes sat well with the audience, who booed both candidates at various times.
While Trump delivered a few harmless and well-received zingers in the direction of Clinton (and even one towards his wife, Melania), others didn’t go down so well, particularly a joke about Hillary “pretending not to hate Catholics,” which was met with boos by the audience.

Clinton responded with a few jibes of her own, poking fun at Vladimir Putin, Trump's comments about the election being rigged and the recent scandals over his attitude towards the opposite sex.
